Your Style Is Your Power
It’s easy for me to say, “Invest in your style” or “Show up like you want to be perceived.” But I know it’s far more impactful to show you what happens when you do. People who show up for themselves don’t just take up space—they own it. They kick ass, take names (figuratively speaking), and get results.
The truth is, the people who progress aren’t always the most knowledgeable or “better” in some way; they’re the action-takers. They pivot when obstacles arise, push harder when challenges show up, and go the extra mile.
If you’re a Black woman, you can cut that time in half. The scales are not balanced for us—especially in professional spaces—so we often have the blink of an eye to prove ourselves. That’s why I style high-achieving Black women to show up boldly and take up space.
Because the cost of not showing up as your full, authentic self is simply too high. You don’t just lose parts of yourself—you lose opportunities, promotions, respect, and money. When your style and presence don’t reflect the real you, the impact on your life is undeniable.
It’s not just about clothes. Personal style can be a revolutionary act, particularly in spaces where Black women are expected to dim their light or play small. The truth? You’re already overqualified, already more than enough.
Enough is enough.
That’s why I’m thrilled to introduce my new series:
Power in Presence: Conversations in Style and Success
This series was born from a simple yet powerful idea: how we show up in the world matters.
And when I say “show up,” I’m not just talking about your physical presence. I mean how you carry yourself, how you align your personal style with your purpose, and how that alignment fuels confidence, respect, and success. It’s about stepping boldly into every room with such undeniable presence that no one questions why you’re there.
Power in Presence celebrates ambitious Black women who are thriving, leading with intention, and embracing personal style as a powerful tool for success. Through intimate, real conversations, we’ll explore how these women use style not just to look good, but to embody their authenticity, power, and mission.
I believe style is so much more than clothes. It’s the visual language we use to communicate who we are. It tells the world how we see ourselves before we even open our mouths. And when you align your style with your values, your goals, and your authentic self, you create a presence so powerful it propels success—personally and professionally.
Our first guest?
Nikki Osei-Barrett—co-founder of District Motherhued, a vibrant community for Black millennial mothers, and Osei PR, where she crafts culturally impactful narratives for brands.
Nikki is a walking testament to the power of presence. Her style is bold, intentional, and deeply aligned with the leader she is. She’s mastered the art of showing up as her authentic self, and her success reflects that.
During our live conversation, we’ll discuss:
How her personal style has shaped her brand.
How it fuels her confidence.
How it’s helped her make a lasting impact through her work.
Because sometimes, you just need to see it to believe it.
This series is for anyone who’s ever felt like their voice wasn’t loud enough, their look wasn’t polished enough, or their presence wasn’t strong enough. It’s a reminder that showing up as your authentic self is always enough—but when you combine that authenticity with intention and aligned style, you become unstoppable.
